About LAH
After realizing the need to organize and create a Liberian community in the Netherlands which will serve as an umbrella organization with the responsibilities to promote and work for fostering good and friendly relationship amongst Liberians living in the Netherlands , the Liberian Association Holland(LAH) was founded in early 90s.
In 2000 five Liberian support groups agreed to disband and recorgnise LAH as Liberian umbrella organization in the Netherlands.
LAH gives membership right to all Liberians living within the boarders of the Netherlands.
The Key aims and objectives of LAH are:
• To serve as true ambassador for Liberia both nationally and internationally in all undertakings.
• To represent the views, suggestions and resolution of members of the association on all important decision.
• To promote , through it activities, national reconciliation, reconstruction, rehabilitation, understanding and unity, and provide effective support to members, as far as the scope and resources allow on issues of mutual concern, by association or acting as a liaison with host Government, local authorities voluntary and non-governmental organizations and individuals, to advance the well-being of Liberia and Liberians.
• To enhance and facilitate cultural and social interactions between Liberians and the Dutch Community, Liberia and the Netherlands.
• To encourage development, and strive to maintain strong bonds of national and international friendship and understanding among Liberian organizations and the world and LAH.
• To promote lasting contacts and cooperation with various organizations, in the Netherlands working in Liberia and LAH
• To assist the host government where necessary in working towards LAH aims and objectives
• To cultivate spiritual balance and promote intellectual, social and cultural interaction between members and their host (people of the Netherlands).
• To foster contacts between Liberians within the Netherlands and Liberians worldwide
• To assist members (and other Liberians) as they work to improve their living standard on all levels.
• AND to work towards the eradication of injustices, human rights abuses, gender inequality and a non- patriarchy postwar Liberia.
In pursuant of its objectives, LAH will remain non-partisan with right to express collective (cooperate) view on social-political economic and affairs related- connected to Liberia and Liberians. It hereby expresses its resolve to intensify efforts to create a model for Liberians at home and abroad and to work together to affirm the aims and objectives of the Association towards the reconstruction process in Liberia.
